John O’Donnell is making waves again on the UK welterweight scene. The slick southpaw now based in London, has had a few choice words for domestic rival Frankie Gavin, potentially setting up a showdown on the Anthony Joshua – Dillian Whyte bill on December 12th.

The 29 year old believes it is time to capture the British, Commonwealth and European belts and will take on anyone who stands in his way. “I am the third best welterweight in the UK behind Khan and Brook, I’m better than Frankie Gavin, Sam Eggington and Bradley Skeete.”

There has been a recent war of words on Twitter between former British and Commonwealth titlist Frankie Gavin and Irish hitman O’Donnell, with the former Commonwealth champion stating, “Gavin started running his mouth on Twitter, then when I offered to fight him, he backtracked so fast it was laughable!”

“I’m ready to destroy Gavin in December on the AJ under card. Eddie Hearn isn’t responding to Steve Goodwin’s calls, as he knows when I knock Gavin out within eight rounds ‘Fun time’ Frankie’s career is in tatters – he will have nowhere to go.”

O’Donnell returns to the ring on November 21st at York Hall, “I’m having a warm up in November then I’ll be available to fight Frankie Gavin; he has no opponent set so it’s the perfect time to get it on.”
