Rocky Fielding is set to return to the ring in the second quarter of the year.

The 27-year-old Liverpool super middleweight will make his comeback at the scene of his first professional defeat, live on Sky Sports.

Fielding (21-1, 12 KOs) was crushed inside a round in his home city by fellow Scouser Callum Smith last month in a clash for the then-vacant British title at the ECHO Arena.

And the former English, Commonwealth, WBA Inter-Continental and WBC International titlist will be back there on April 2 as part of a card headlined by his former foe (18-0, 13 KOs) in a fight, which is expected to be for the European crown.

Smith, 25, has been mandated to challenge champion Hadillah Mohoumadi (20-3-1, 15 KOs) for the belt and purse bids are due at midday on January 8 at the EBU offices in Rome.

Elsewhere on the card, it has been revealed that Scotty Cardle (19-0, 6 KOs) will defend his British lightweight title in a rematch with Sean Dodd (10-2, 2 KOs).

The Lytham St Annes champion retained his belt in controversial circumstances in November, stopping former Central Area title challenger ‘Masher’ in the final of 12 rounds.

Meanwhile, Tony Bellew (26-2-1, 16 KOs) is expected to feature and there is the potential of an all-super middleweight showdown between former world title challengers Martin Murray (32-3-1, 15 KOs) and Paul Smith (35-6, 20 KOs).
