Las Vegas – Rising super middleweight contender Gilberto Ramirez (33-0, 24KOs) scored a unanimous decision victory over Gevorg Khatchikian (23-2, 11KOs) on MetroPcs Friday Night Knockout on truTv at the Chelsea inside The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
The highly rated WBO international champion broke down his opponent over ten one-sided rounds, with judges returning scorecards of 100-90, 100-90 and 99-91 in favor of the popular Mexican southpaw.
Ramirez remains unbeaten as he seeks a shot at reigning champion Arthur Abraham who defends his WBO super middleweight title against Britain’s Martin Murray this evening in Germany.
In the co-main event, lightweight prospect, Saul Rodriguez knocked out opponent Ivan Najera in the first round with a huge left hook to the head which caused referee Kenny Bayliss to call a halt to the bout. The stoppage came on the heels of another knockdown earlier in the round, which lasted a total of 126 seconds.
Other results on the card saw undefeated Konstantin Ponomarev (29-0, 13KOs) pick up an eight round majority decision against Ramses Agaton (17-3, 9Kos), Casey Ramos (21-0, 5KOs) decision Adonis Aguelo (24-13, 16KOs) over eight rounds, Toka Kahn Clary (17-0, 11KOs) retired Sergio Lopez (19-10-1, 13KOs) in two rounds and light heavyweight Oleksandr Gvozdyk (8-0, 6KOs) knock out Cleiton Conceicao (22-8-2, 18KOs) inside fifty seconds.
