Albert Baker

Brazilian junior middleweight prospect Patrick Teixeira 25-0 21KO’s steps into the ring tomorrow to headline GoldenBoy Promotions LA Fight Club series at the Belasco Theater in downtown Los Angeles tomorrow.

Teixeira took some time to talk to InstantBoxing.com before his main event feature- which will be aired on EstrellaTV and RingTV.com to talk about his journey in boxing up to this point in his career. Teixeira is looking to become the standout of a good looking class of Brazilian prospects that have emerged recently with the likes of the Falcao brothers Yamaguchi and Esquiva and Everton Lopes- All of whom were Olympians.

Albert Baker: Patrick thanks for taking time for us, your headlining the next LA Fight Club in Los Angeles for GoldenBoy- How does that make you feel now that you’re at the point in your career where you are the top bill.

Patrick Teixeira: It feels great, I’m very excited to headline my first card and I’m looking forward to putting on a good show.

Albert Baker: At 25-0 with 21 wins by knockout do you go into a fight and actively look for knockouts? If someone doesn’t go down do you have a plan b?

Patrick Teixeira: I train to box all rounds of a fight, I don’t go for knockouts but they have come often for me. Getting the win is the most important thing- not the knockout. I consider myself a boxer/puncher so I can do both, get knockouts and win decisions.

Albert Baker: Patrick, recently Brazil has produced a good group of prospects that are getting a lot of attention as they develop. Do you feel like Brazil is ready to produce some world champions in boxing with prospects like yourself, the Falcao brothers and Everton Lopes?

Patrick Teixeira: Of course, definitely. You should expect something great from Brazil, I’m starting to progress in my career and soon with the help of my promoter (GoldenBoy) I’ll challenge for a world title.

Albert Baker: Who were your favorite fighters growing up, and why?

Patrick Teixeira:
I really liked Evander Holyfield and Julio Cesar Chavez. Holyfield was a great technical fighter as a heavyweight and, Chavez was what I expected a fighter to be- he had heart, power, and a good chin; he always found a way to win.

Albert Baker: Patrick, on behalf of InstantBoxing we wish you good luck and good health in the ring this Friday.

Patrick Teixeira: Thank you
