Gary O’Sullivan (18-1, 11KO’s) scored a massive victory this evening with a devastating first round knockout of Dublin hopeful Anthony Fitzgerald (16-7, 4KO’s).

With tensions running high from the opening bell after an eventful weigh in, the bad blood continued as O’Sullivan shoved Fitzgerald right before the pre-fight names were called in-ring as the latter walked around it.

Fitzgerald had his home crowd in raptures after an eventful entrance but it was O’Sullivan that silenced them just moments later. “Spike” came out with a low relaxed guard hitting Fitzgerald with crisp clear shots seconds after the opening bell. O’Sullivan seemed to be able to move into range within moments of the stanza and threw with ruthless spite against his slightly younger foe.

After around six heavy shots which seemed to sag the knees of Fitzgerald, O’Sullivan stepped in with a heavy right uppercut which connected fully with his opponents chin and that was all she wrote.

Before it was called the home crowd knew, O’Sullivan knew and the referee knew seconds later as Mickey Vann waved off the contest with “Fitzey” unable to properly gather his feet.
