Micki Nielsen (15-0, 12 KOs) faces the biggest challenge of his career when he meets former Mikkel Kessler opponent, Gusmyr Perdomo (21-4, 14 KOs) at the Nordic Fight Night on December 13 in Albertslund in Copenhagen.

“It’s cool to get to face one of Mikkel’s former opponents. I was actually there watching the fight in Herning five years ago. It was an important fight for Mikkel. Perdomo is a skilled and versatile southpaw, but Mikkel broke him down,” said Nielsen about the fight that was stopped in the fourth round and qualified Mikkel Kessler for the Super Six super middleweight tournament.

“Perdomo has moved up to cruiserweight now, but I believe that I’m a more natural cruiserweight, and I’m the stronger fighter. We have already started to prepare to face a southpaw, and my trainer Joey Gamache has started working on a game plan.

“This is without a doubt a big test for me, the biggest of my career, but I’m looking forward to showing that I’m ready to take a step up. It will be a special night in Albertslund. I love to box in front of my home crowd. The support they provide always lifts me up. I promise that I will give everything I can to repay them for their support.

“There will be more pressure on me than ever before. A victory over Perdomo will be a big boost for my confidence. I have a chance to prove myself in this fight!’’

Micki Nielsen co-headlines the show at the Albertslund MusikTeatret with older brother Patrick, who faces Ronny Mittag, while Swedish light heavyweight Erik Skoglund takes on former world champion Glen Johnson. Tickets for the Nordic Fight Night are available viabilletnet.dk.
