Norwegian cruiserweight Kai Robin Havnaa (5-0, 4 KOs) faces Mateusz Gatek (4-5) on March 19 at the Albertslund Musikteatret in Copenhagen.

The 27 year-old returns following the first-round knockout of Lukasz Zygmunt on December 12 at the Brondby Hallen to take the Polish fighter Gatek in his first six-round contest.

‘’I’ve seen some of his fights and Gatek is a good fighter,’’ said Havnaa. ‘’He is a pretty big cruiserweight so I will need to fight smart, but I’m prepared for a tough fight and I’m ready to give my all to claim another great victory.

‘’This will be my first six-round fight, and if necessary, I’ll be ready to go all six rounds. I will need to pace myself and not get too eager or excited, but that’s part of boxing and it will be a good learning experience for me.

‘’I’ve stopped four of five previous opponents inside the distance, and of course, I hope to add another knockout to my record, but I wont go looking for it. I’ll take my time, pick my punches, and if the opportunity comes, I will take it.’’

Having relocated to Copenhagen, Havnaa has undergone a tough training camp with his coach, the former two-time World Champion, Joey Gamache, and the Norwegian fighter is expecting these gruelling sessions to pay off in the ring.

‘’I’ve had a long camp for this fight,’’ he said. ‘’I’ve been in the gym training everyday since Christmas, and I’m in a perfect place. The work I’m doing with Joey is everything. I’m always learning new things and improving. Now, it’s about putting this into practice, and I’m looking forward to showing everybody what we’ve been working on.

”The fans in Denmark have been great to me and I always have lots of people travelling over from Norway to support me. On March 19, they will see my best performance yet!’’

Havnaa will be fighting on the undercard of Micki Nielsen’s WBC International Cruiserweight title defence against Mirko Larghetti on March 19 at the Albertslund Musikteatret. Tickets are available online via www.billetlugen.dk or by calling (+45) 70 263 267.
