Stefan Haertel (8-0) faces Tobias Webb (16-4-1, 2 KOs) on the undercard of Juergen Braehmer’s WBA World Light Heavyweight title defence against Eduard Gutknecht on March 12 at the Jahnsportforum in Neubrandenburg, Germany.
The rising German star, who is undefeated in his eight professional contests, is preparing for his toughest challenge against the resilient Welshman Webb, the nephew of former World Champion Enzo Maccarinelli.
‘’On paper this is definitely the toughest fight of my career so far,’’ said the 28 year-old super middleweight. ‘’It is also my first fight over eight rounds, but I’m looking forward to the challenge and the chance to show the progress I have made since turning pro.’’
Webb lost a ten-round points decision David Brophy in his last outing, having taken the fight at short notice, while Haertel is coming off the back of a six-round unanimous decision win against Jozsef Racz.
Haertel’s coach Karsten Roewer believes a fully fit Webb could pose some problems for his fledgling fighter. ‘’Webb may have been under prepared for his last bout, but I expect him to show up in top shape for this fight, and a fully fit Tobias Webb will provide a serious test for Stefan.’’
To overcome this test, Haertel intends to draw on the invaluable experience he has gained from training alongside two-time World Champion Juergen Braehmer. ‘’I’ve learnt a lot from Juergen,’’ says the Berlin-boxer. ‘’When he talks, everyone listens, because to learn from him, is to learn to win!’’
