FROCH ORDERED BY IBF TO START DEGALE NEGOTIATIONS

Current IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (33-2, 24KO’S) has been ordered by the American based sanctioning organization, to open negotiations with mandatory challenger James DeGale (20-1, 14KO’s).

Froch 37, has until January 31 to agree terms with his challenger otherwise his title would potentially become vacant.

A press quote released by IBF chairman Lindsay Tucker yesterday revealed, “A letter was sent to Carl on December 31, ordering him to open negotiations with mandatory challenger James DeGale. If an agreement is not reached during this time then a purse bid will be called.”

Any such purse bid you feel would be elementary with both fighters represented by Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing.

Should Froch choose to vacate his title in search of a mega fight with former middleweight star Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in Las Vegas this year, DeGale would likely face American Andre Dirrell (24-1, 16KO’s) for the vacant title in the first quarter of 2015.
