ESPN.com and ESPN Friday Night Fightsboxing contributor Nigel Collins has been elected into the International Boxing Hall of Fame. The announcement was made by the International Boxing Hall of Fame and Museum on December 4. Before joining ESPN, Collins served as editor-and-chief of The Ring Magazine.
“Induction into the International Boxing Hall of Fame is a dream come true and I am both humbled and thrilled by the honor,” Collins said.
Joining Collins in this year’s Hall of Fame class: former Heavyweight champion Riddick “Big Daddy” Bowe, former Featherweight champion “Prince” Naseem Hamed, former Lightweight champion Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini, former Light Flyweight championYoko Gushiken, booking agent / managerRafael Mendoza, referee Steve Smoger, and broadcaster Jim Lampley.
The 2015 Hall of Fame Weekend at the Hall of Fame Museum in Canastota, N.Y., concludes with the ceremony Sunday, June 14.
