December 4th marks the 2015 finale of Golden Boy Promotions LA Fight Club at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles. Aired on EstrellaTV under the name Boxeo Estelar, the popular fight series has brought in a raucous and loyal crowd month in and month out to enjoy good fights featuring the best prospects from the Los Angeles Area and around the world.

Christian “Chimpa” Gonzalez 11-0 10KO’s headlines his first event and looks to take another step forward in becoming a solid prospect for promoter Golden Boy. Gonzalez faces journeyman Alejandro Ochoa 7-10 1KO who most recently stopped the undefeated Kevin Rivers of Maryland at the StubHub in October on the Matthysse VS. Postol undercard.

From Buena Park, California the Orange County native brings a big crowd with him to the intimate Belasco Theater that gets loud and rowdy. “It’s a blessing, I’m thankful for everyone that comes to the fights; they’re a big motivation to get up and run, and workout to get spectacular victories.” “I think my name sticks and people remember it ‘Chimpa’, my mom used to call me that when I was little; she said I used to run around like a chimpanzee. It’s kind of weird when people call me Christian because growing up everyone just called me Chimpa.”

Gonzalez understands he is still in the learning phase of his career and close to taking the step into tougher competition as a prospect. “It’s a learning process, I think I need at least one more year. Every fight I try and learn to improve for the next fight, so we’re getting better each time out.” “Golden Boy is doing a great job, I have everything to be thankful for and the opportunity they are giving me is huge.”

With a win Gonzalez takes another step forward in his development as a prospect in the 130lb. division that just saw Golden Boy stablemate Francisco Vargas win a world title in an amazing come from behind stoppage of tough as nails Takashi Miura as the Cotto Vs. Canelo co-main event. The LA Fight Club series has provided a platform for the newest generation of Golden Boy fighters to plant roots and build their local fan-bases among the large boxing audience in Los Angeles. Gonzalez looks to become the next home grown fighter to plant his flag and make the local boxing-heads remember the name ‘Chimpa’.

Airing live on EstrellaTV, Boxeo Estelar airs at 7pm PST and will also stream on estrellaTV.com
