WITH CANELO – COTTO OFF, EXPECT FIREWORKS WHEN ALVAREZ AND KIRKLAND STEP INTO THE RING

Well boxing fans, apparently the fight we actually thought was going to be made isn’t, Saul Canelo Alvarez 44 (31KO)-1-1 versus Miguel Angel Cotto 39 (32KO)-4 (2) is not going to happen. It would have been a great Mexican vs Puerto Rican rivalry to add on to the great boxing history that these two countries possess. According to Bob Arum in a recent interview by Elie Sechback, Canelo sent letters to a Spanish newspaper calling Cotto out, Cotto was not to fond of that and felt insulted. But who knows boxing fans, it’s hard to believe anything now a days.
Anyways, after everything was said and done, there will be NO Canelo versus Cotto, instead we will see Canelo Alvarez square up against James Kirkland 32 (28KO)-1. Canelo is coming off a not so impressive win against Erislandy Lara 20 (12KO)-2-2 who Canelo had trouble against due to Lara’s boxing and movement. The same applied when Canelo faced Floyd Mayweather, but our old friend Canelo in my opinion will not have to deal with that type of fighter this time around.
On the other side of the ring we have James Kirkland, who is coming off an impressive sixth round TKO win over the Jersey boy Glen Tapia 22 (14KO)-1. This fight took place in December of 2013, so hopefully there is no ring rust for Kirkland due to his one year of inactivity. Nevertheless Kirkland is a very dangerous fighter with Anne Wolfe in his corner, this will be no walk in the park for Canelo that’s for sure.
Both of these fighters have knockout power, guts, and heart and I believe it will not go the distance. At the moment there is no date for this but there is talk it will take place in San Antonio or Las Vegas. All I can say is be prepared, request some days off when you find out, because these two guys fighting will give us one hell of a bout.
Come fight night expect: blood, action and above all – a knock out!
