ISLA VERDE, P.R. – The boxing series “Boxeo Al Maximo” presented by Miguel Cotto Promotions and H2 Entertainment in association with Roc Nation Sports is ready to headline on Saturday June 4th at the Cosme Beitia Coliseum in Cataño that will feature a very attractive Mexico vs Puerto Rico fight in the main event when Kevin Nieves (9-1-1, 5 KOs) of Cataño takes on Alexis del Bosque (11-2, 8 KOs), a Mexican boxer who resides in Dallas in an eight round lightweight bout. “I am ready for this fight and am very aware of what Alexis Bosque represents to my career. I am very confident that I will come out with a victory on Saturday night in Cataño,” said Nieves.
Meanwhile, Del Bosque said that he is in great shape and is ready to give the fans an entertaining fight. “You know that I am well prepared and ready for whatever Kevin brings into the ring. I had plenty of notice for this fight and my preparation was excellent. I am very happy to be here in Puerto Rico and I am her for the win,” said Del Bosque. “This will be another classic fight between Puerto Rico and Mexico, and the fans know what to expect when they fight. Kevin is a great boxer, has excellent skills, and is very accurate with his punches. Del Bosque is the classic Mexican boxer, he’s strong and will put pressure all night long. That’s why this will be a great fight,” said Hector Soto.
Also in action in the card that is co-promoted by H2 Entertainment and Roc Nation Sports will be the 18-year old super prospect John “El Terrible” Bauza (1-0, 1 KO), who had a 170-8 amateur record and recently won the United States amateur championship. He will be fighting in front of this hometown fans for the first time when he takes on Mike Erosa of Vega Baja. “I am very happy to be fighting in front of my people in Cataño. This is a dream for me. I prepared very well for my second fight and I am very focused on bringing a great fight to my people of Cataño and all of Puerto Rico,” said Bauza.
In the six other bouts, there will be young undefeated prospects putting their perfect record on the line. In one of them, a six round bout at 195 pounds, Kelvin Nuñez (13-0, 11 KOs) of Carolina will take on Jonuel Tapia (8-6-1, 5 KOs) of Aguas Buenas. This will be a rematch of a bout last February 6 at the Roger L. Mendoza Coliseum in Caguas, when Nuñez stopped Tapia in the fourth round. “Tapia knows how to fight,” said Nuñez, who has great motivation to beat Tapia again. “I am dedicating this fight to a child that has leukemia. He is only three or four years old and his name is Yeruel Manuel.
He’s a wonderful kid and every time I see him it just breaks my heart – we sometimes think we have it rough, but when you see a kid like him who is always smiling, it makes you think.” In a four round middleweight bout, Magdiel Cotto (3-0, 3 KOs) of Caimito, a former member of the Puerto Rico team in the Pan-American games, will take on Antonio Alicea from Carolina who will be making his professional debut. In a six round junior welter bout, Yomar Alamo (9-0, 7 KOs) of Aguas Buenas will take on Gabriel Diaz of Guyana in a six round flyweight bout. Charlie Clemente (11-0, 4 KOs) of Carolina will face Christian López of Maunabo; Bryan Chevalier (5-0-1 y 5 Kos) will take on Luis Ortiz in a six round bout at 122 pounds and in a four round bout at 147 pounds Derrieck Cuevas (6-0-1, 4 KOs) of Sa Juan will battle Javier Garcia.
The show will be broadcast by Mega TV on a one week delay on Saturday, June 11 in prime-time 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
