ANGEL ACOSTA AND ALBERTO MACHADO TO HEADLINE DIRECTV BOXING NIGHTS‏

CAGUAS, Puerto Rico – Miguel Cotto Promotions, in association with H2 Entertainment and Roc Nation Sports will begin a new chapter in their history when they partner with DIRECTV to present professional boxing. Their first event is scheduled for Saturday, April 23 at the Roger L. Mendoza Coliseum of Caguas where the top prospect of Miguel Cotto Promotions will take on the best prospects of Javier Bustillo’s Universal Promotions.

The card will include three regional titles sanctioned by the World Boxing Council (WBC) in what will be the first time Miguel Cotto Promotions will present a card as part of the DIRECTV Boxing Nights series.

In feature bouts of the card, knockout artist Angel “Tito” Acosta (12-0, 12 KOs) will defend his WBC Fecarbox mini flyweight Crown against Universal Promotions’ own Erickson Martell (12-5-1, 8 KOs) of the Dominican Republic in an eight round bout, also undefeated and rising prospect Alberto “Explosivo” Machado will co feature the card when he clashes against tough Mexican warrior Miguel Angel Mendoza (22-7-2, 21KO’s) in a eight round bout. José “Chiquiro” Martínez (16-0 y 10) from Las Marias will defend his WBC Latino super flyweight belt against Edwin Rodríguez (7-2, 2 KOs) from Juana Díaz in a ten round bout and Carlos Narváez (13-0, 6 KOs), of Corozal, will take on Carlos Rodriguez (12-2, 11 KOs) of Mayaguez in an eight round bout for the WBC Super flyweight belt.

In a 10 round bout at 105 pounds; Janiel ‘Pototo’ Rivera (13-2-3, 5 KOs) of Vega Baja, will take on Anthony Rodríguez (7-2, 2 KOs) of Orlando, Florida. “The most important thing in boxing is to give the fans the best and biggest fights you can make and always have the best face the best and on Saturday, April 23rd, the fans will witness a great night of boxing inside and outside the ring. They see the best boxers from Puerto Rico face each other in their respective weight divisions. On the April 23rd card, Angel “Memito” Lopez (4-1, 4 KOs) of Caguas, a former national amateur champion of Universal Promotions, will battle Leroy Padilla (1-10, 1 KO) of San Sebastian in a four round bout at 130 pounds. The card will have a total of nine fights. Also in action will be lightweight Kevin Nieves (8-1-1, 5 KOs) of Comerio, Puerto Rico who will take on Pedro Hernández (7-7, 3 KOs) of Aguadilla in an eight round bout, super bantamweight Bryan Chevalier will battle Eduardo Meléndez of San Juan in a four round bout and the experienced Juan “Cowi” Herrera (13-9-1 y 4 KOs) of Naguabo will battle Luis Ortiz of Vega Alta, in a six round super bantamweight bout.
